It will be standing room only when the lids fly in the main race at Albion Park tonight.
The $8,000 A-Team Lightning is the only 331 metres race run on a Thursday night all year at Albion Park.
Six heats were run at last Sunday’s twilight card. Di Buxton’s Got a Moment was the fastest heat winner in 18.86. Harry the Great holds the track record, set in June this year, at 18.80.
Charmed Speed for Col Byers was the second fastest heat winner, clocking 18.96 or about one and a half lengths slower than Got a Moment. Charmed Speed was having his first Albion Park start and raced widely from the 600 metres boxes until straightening for home.
Tonight, Charmed Speed has drawn box three with Got a Moment on his immediate outside in trap four.
A quadrella pool of around $100,000 is likely on tonight’s Albion Park card. There is a jackpot amount to kickstart betting of $23,847. The A-Team Lightning is race eight, the final quaddie leg.
Recent Townsville Cup winner, Geoff Allen’s Hanson Senor (pictured) returns to Albion Park in the quaddie third leg and looks hard to beat despite drawing box five.
There are four Queensland trained greyhounds in Friday afternoon’s Charcoal inn Casino Cup heats in northern New South Wales. They are regular Ipswich and Albion Park performers Alex the Great, Bogie Magic, High Riser and Jake’s Thunder.
There are four heats, with the first and second placegetters progressing to the $25,000 to the winner of the final on Friday of next week. The Casino Cup is run over 484 metres.
The first heat this Friday goes at 1.29 p.m.
