Calling Ipswich greyhound members

Racing Queensland Limited has submitted a proposal to the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club that could see the return of Saturday night racing at the popular venue.
The club’s committee wishes to discuss the proposal with club members and has scheduled a meeting this Tuesday at 7 p.m., immediately following the twilight race programme.
Ipswich G.R.C. manager and former president Merv Page said the RQL proposal involves the club staging Saturday night racing as non TAB meetings.
‘’The committee would like to discuss the matter with club members because there would have to be a significant financial outlay by the club and it’s club funds which are actually members’ funds that would have to be spent,’’ Page said.
Ipswich regularly receives between 50 and 70 excess nominations for its Tuesday and Friday twilight TAB meetings. Whether such support would be there for non TAB racing for lower prizemoney is one of many matters to be discussed on Tuesday night.
RQL has suggested that Saturday non TAB meetings could commence as early as October 6 if details can be formulated. A start time of around 7 p.m. is anticipated if the venture goes ahead.
